To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this letter in support of Sting, or Gordon Matthew Sumner, for a United
Kingdom National Honor.  As a devoted follower of his musical career since 1980, I
have been delighted to watch Sting evolve from mere rock star to musician,
songwriter, entertainer and humanitarian of great magnitude over the last twenty-two
years.

Sting’s prolific work with The Police and as a solo artist is well known and
documented; he has secured his place as a rock legend by selling over one hundred
million records and garnering a multitude of musical awards over the years.  But
even more impressive is the time and energy Sting devotes to numerous charities in
aid of the environment and our people worldwide.  He has steadfastly remained
dedicated to Amnesty International and The Rainforest Foundation for the better part
of the last two decades.  Among many other worthy social commitments, Sting has
helped with relief for families and victims of disaster, famine relief in Africa, aids
research and children’s medical research.  He continues to give tirelessly to the most
relevant and pressing social issues of our time.

Sting is well respected by his peers and highly regarded by people internationally.
He is a musical force that has remained firmly in the public conscience for the last
twenty-five years and shows no sign of slowing down.  My admiration for Sting
continues to grow as the years pass; he will remain a bright star in our future, both
as a musician and social activist.  Nothing would make me prouder than to see Sting
receive the recognition I feel he so justly deserves from his country.  I respectfully
ask you to consider this great man for a United Kingdom National Honor in the near
future.

Sincerely,

Kathy Wheeler
