Sting Summer Tour 2010 Sting Concert Dates

Looks like the Sting summer tour 2010 is shaping up to be a big event with the announcement of additional cities. To date there are 32 shows over two months in the US and Canada with European dates still to be announced. This Sting tour will be with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and Sting’s catalogue of songs will be interpreted through orchestral arrangement. After seeing Sting perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in May 2009, I can tell you this is a unique musical experience for Sting fans and music aficionados alike. Get your Sting concert tickets for one of the following Sting concert dates, because you don’t want to miss this!

Sting Driven To Tears For Haiti

Sting performed a powerful rendition of his appropriately chosen Police song “Driven To Tears” during the Hope For Haiti Now telethon on January 22, 2010 along with Mark Whitfield on guitar, Chris Botti on trumpet, Clark Gayton on trombone, Ira Coleman on bass, and members of the band The Roots. You can always count on Sting to lend a helping vocal during a crisis, and the lyrics to “Driven To Tears” were poignantly relevant to the desperate situation at hand:

Hide my face in my hands, shame wells in my throat
My comfortable existance is reduced to a shallow meaningless party
Seems that when some innocent die
All we can offer them is a page in some magazine
Too many cameras and not enough food
Cause this is what we’ve seen

Spend Thanksgiving With Sting on PBS Great Performances

Spend part of your Thanksgiving with Sting watching his divine performance of songs from his new album “If On A Winter’s Night” at Durham Cathedral in England from September of 2009. PBS will broadcast Sting: A Winter’s Night on THIRTEEN’s Great Performances series in HD on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 26 at 9 p.m. EST. This is an amazing performance in a spectacular and inspirational setting not to be missed by any Sting fan.

I had some difficulty finding this program to set up my DVR to record it since I’ll be out of town for the holiday. With the help of the PBS website, I found the time it is airing locally to be 1 a.m. on Friday, November 27 on both WSEC-TV and WILL-TV. To promote the release of his new album If On A Winter’s Night, Sting will be performing on the following televisions programs in late October:
October 27: The Today Show
October 28: The Late Show with David Letterman
October 29: The View

I’m guessing there will be many more announcements like this as the publicity machine cranks up to full speed in the coming weeks up to the new album release date of October 27.

Awesome Eighties on American Idol Tonight!

Tonight the contestants will perform songs from the year they were born, and I’m thrilled this is going to turn into an “Awesome Eighties Night on Idol” because 7 of the 8 remaining contestants were born in the 1980’s! So here are some guesses as to which songs the contestants might sing along with what I think would be fun to see them perform. I’m guessing somebody is going to perform a Bryan Adams song. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed that someone is brave enough to tackle a Sting song from his first solo album “Dream of the Blue Turtles” in 1985. There are three contestants born in 1985, and two lean towards jazz/blues (Kris and Matt), so it is possible that Sting could be performed tonight! Whatever happens, it’s sure to be a fun night! Any other guesses out there on great 80s songs and who should perform them?

It’ll be a heartbreaker if Danny sings “She’s Out Of My Life”, because everyone will be thinking about his wife who died recently, but he is a fan of Michael Jackson, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him tackle a Michael Jackson song from 1980, and Off The Wall was an absolutely fantastic album.
