The speculation and rumors are over after it was officially announced yesterday that Sting will perform a concert on the eve of his 60th birthday at the Beacon Theatre in NYC on October 1, 2011. All proceeds will benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, and a slew of entertainers are lined up to perform Sting songs in tribute to his 25-year solo music career. Take a look at the guest list:
Bruce Springsteen
Lady Gaga
Stevie Wonder
Mary J. Blige
Herbie Hancock
Robert Downey Jr.
Vince Gill
Will.i.am
Rufus Wainwright
Branford Marsalis
Billy Joel
Chris Botti
Wow! This is going to be quite an event for those who can afford the price of a golden ticket. Although the concert is technically “private” and not open to the public, some tickets will be made available for purchase by Sting Fan Club members today starting at $279.10. Ticketmaster also lists tickets for $2,583.90, must be for those who REALLY want to donate to the Robin Hood Foundation as well as get a primo seat. First and foremost, this will be a celebration for Sting’s family and friends in an intimate setting (Beacon Theatre seats roughly 3,000 people), but how nice that Sting fans are on the guest list too and a worthy charity will benefit as well. Sounds like a birthday party befitting the Englishman in New York!

What? Stewart Copeland’s not on the guest list??
Seriously, though. Sounds like a good time. I’ve got friends who are attending.
Happy B-Day Sting!
Funny, Amy! Let’s hope Stew and Andy will be there! Who knows? But it is fun to think about!
