YouTube Copyright Infringement Offense

An apology Really I’m not a criminal! But apparently the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and YouTube think that I am. I’ve just received notice that the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association insisted that my video from Sting’s performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on May 19, 2009 be removed, nearly two months after the event. I have promptly obliged and deleted the video, however I would like to state my case in this matter.

I find it hard to believe that the CSO is concerned about my pathetic, 25 second video recorded poorly from my Kodak Easyshare camera from the awful and obstructed view in the back of the balcony. The video has the heads of the audience in front of me blocking the view, for crying out loud! It is not suitable for anything more than a brief glimpse of what the performance was like, and certainly not good enough to reproduce or distribute in any way, shape or form.

I certainly meant no disrespect to the CSO, Sting or anyone else by posting my amateur and extremely short footage. I only wanted to share a moment of the musical magic of that night to help with the description of the amazing concert. It will still remain one of my favorite Sting performances of all time, and I offer my sincere apologies to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for my unabashed joy in describing the event for others eager to hear about it.
