Afraid Sting has Writer's Block, Postponing New Solo Album Release

With the latest announcement of Sting engagements for later this year after the Police Reunion Tour ends this summer, I’m beginning to get concerned that Sting has writer’s block and is avoiding the creation of a new solo album with new music. I’m a Sting fan first and foremost. While I’ve absolutely enjoyed the Police Reunion Tour (and spent way too much money on it) and admired Sting’s lute project “Songs From The Labyrinth”, I’ve been ready for a new Sting album with new songs for quite a while now. It was announced that Sting would appear on stage in “Welcome to the Voice” this November 2008 , and now it’s been announced he’ll have a lute performance in December 2008. All these announcements leave me wondering . . . . when am I going to see a new Sting album?! I’m starting to get anxious about the whole thing now.

It’s not like Sting hasn’t been busy in the last five years since Sacred Love was released. I’m certain Sting is not lying on the couch at his Tuscan villa in sweat pants, eating stale cheese puffs, getting fat and watching endless reruns of “Friends”. He’s been successful with his lute project “Songs From The Labyrinth” and obviously with The Police Reunion Tour. But what I want (and what he does best) is a new solo project with his sophisticated world music, intelligent lyrics and unmistakable voice. Please get back to writing Sting, I beg of you! With any luck, he already is, but with the Police reunion tour winding down in August 2008 and the other engagements announced recently for the rest of the year, it looks like it will be at least 2009 before a new album release. Six years is just too long for a Sting fan like me to wait!
