David Versus David American Idol Finale

David Versus David American Idol

I’m looking forward to the battle of the final two contestants tonight on American Idol. Either David can win and I’ll be happy, they both are worthy in my opinion. I do think that the pendulum is swinging in David Cook’s direction of late, just at the right time. And I think he is largely responsible for this with his crafty PR moves.

He knew he needed to sway the vote in his direction and has done several things to make sure that happens. He gave his mother, standing in the audience last week, a belated “happy mother’s day” greeting on Wednesday, THREE DAYS AFTER MOTHER’S DAY!!! (Oh so sweet, but come on, three days later!) That was a deliberate attempt to persuade the public and improve his image as the devoted son. And the best move was publicly thanking his grade school music teacher for his musical success during last week’s visit to his home town. Now that was a brilliant PR move, and I’m certain he did that to shine up his image and get more votes. He also continues to put his arm around little David and play the comforting older brother to his naïve, younger competitor. David Cook is working it, he’s feeding the publicity machine, he’s earned the win and worked harder in my opinion than little “GOSH!” David.

Good luck to the two Davids of American Idol, can’t wait to see who wins! It’s been a great season, I’m going to be sad when it’s all over!

Now that the two Davids have battled in the finale, I’m really disappointed in David Cook’s performance. He was okay, but nothing spectacular, which is too bad. I really expected him to keep up the publicity stunts too and kiss some babies and shake some hands. But he did nothing of the sort and was pretty bland overall. David Archuleta stole the show and won hands down, in my opinion. He was fantastic and in great form last night. So although Cook has really tried to bring it on to win this thing, I don’t think his efforts were enough. Archuleta really should win, but who knows with the American public voting? We’ll see tonight!
