The planets aligned last night and brought together two of my favorite things – Sting and American Idol! Technically, Sting, the Police and American Idol as one Sting song (Fragile) and one Police song (Every Breath You Take) were performed on the show last night, March 25, 2008.
I loved Brooke’s version of “Every Breath You Take”, even with the re-start at the very beginning. I enjoy her voice because it’s different and recognizable and unique. It’s the same reason I love Sting’s voice, so it was nice to see her pull off one of his songs. I didn’t agree with the judges comments either, she was fantastic.
I was not fond of Jason Castro’s “Fragile” however. He didn’t do himself any favors singing that one and butchered what I consider to be one of Sting’s most beautiful songs of all time!!!!
As far as predictions go, if America votes based only on last night’s performances, I think Jason or Ramielle could be in some trouble tonight. Kristy Lee Cook did alright last night, better than the last couple of weeks, and pulled on some American heart strings with her patriotic song choice. We’ll have to see if that keeps her out of the bottom three this week or not. I don’t have much to say about my favorite David Archuleta this week, his song was an obscure choice, and I didn’t really like it or dislike it, but was left kind of emotionless about the whole performance. My most favorite performance of the night was David Cook, he was awesome with his reworked version of Billie Jean! I LOVED THAT! Second favorite performance of the night was Michael Johns, but I’m getting tired of hearing him sing Queen. And I think the judges were harsh with Carly again, I thought she was great.

Oh, poor Chikezie! I don’t think he deserved to be the one to leave tonight. I thought that was sad. And Syesha in the bottom three? That was a big surprise too. Meanwhile, Kristy Lee Cook sneaks by for another week.
